Back in 2007, Tim Burton gave us Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a classic musical-thriller film starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, and now the movie has been released for the first time on 4K UHD. Not only that, but we’re giving a copy away!
Directed by Tim Burton (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), the film stars Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) as Sweeney Todd, and Bonham Carter (Room With A View) as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney’s amorous accomplice, along with Alan Rickman (Die Hard) as the evil Judge Turpin.
Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. He returns to reopen his barber shop, where he becomes legend as “the demon barber of Fleet Street.”
The critically acclaimed big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical won an Oscar for Best Art Direction, while Depp was nominated for Best Actor and won a Golden Globe for his role, and the film won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical.
