Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters will be R-rated, according to sources at Collider. There were apparently two versions of the film, a PG-13 and a more graphic cut, but the latter proved more popular with test audiences.
The 3D film stars Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye in Avengers Assemble) and Gemma Arterton as grown-up versions of the fairytale characters, out for revenge.
Arterton described the movie to Entertainment Weekly “as much Pulp Fiction as fairy tale.”
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters will open on January 11, 2013.
