Top 5 Sci-Fi Couples

Who’s loved-up in Sci-Fi right now…

Bella and Edward, Twilight

Topping the list has got to be the most sickeningly infatuated couple from the Twilight saga. He’s a veggie vampire who becomes sparkly in sunlight; she’s a clumsy mortal who is dangerously obsessed with the aforementioned sparkly vamp. So much so in fact that she wants to become a brooding undead, too, so they can be broody together. Forever. The final instalment, Breaking Dawn, is split into two parts and will contain the long-awaited honeymoon scene. Cinemas are already investing in quality soundproofing for the main event. Maybe.

“About three things I was absolutely positive: first, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him – and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be – that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.” – Bella (Twilight)

Abby and Connor, Primeval

The anomaly fighting pair found love somewhere between the third and the fourth series when they were trapped in the Cretaceous. Things don’t run so smoothly though, what with dinosaurs getting in the way. The lady definitely wears the trousers in this relationship and so far the majority of Connor’s lines have been cries of “Abby!” Played by former S-Clubber Hannah Spearritt and AndrewLee Potts, they are actually a couple in real life, too. Aw.

Sookie and Bill, True Blood

Meet the X-rated version of Bella and Edward, with Southern accents. Sookie can handle her own and has no desire to become an immortal, though, and she also has many a sexual encounter with multiple supernatural partners. Vampire Bill is her true love despite affections for a werewolf and Viking vamp Eric. The actors (played by Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer) met on the show and have since tied the knot. We see a pattern emerging….

Annie and Mitchell, Being Human

A classic case of vampire meets… a ghost?! Now in its third series, the undercurrent of lurv between these two is nicely simmering away. Writer and creator Toby Whithouse said on the show’s official blog: “But it’s something that’s evolved over time and certainly at the beginning there weren’t any plans to bring them together. It’s quite amazing how much of what we devise/write is a response to what we see on screen.” Watch this space.

The Doctor and Amy

Okay, so they’re not ‘officially’ an item, and things seem even more doubtful now since Amy and Rory have become hitched, but there’s definitely a spark there. The randy redhead certainly took a shine to the Doctor’s charm after hopping aboard the TARDIS, jumping him at every opportunity. She even stole a kiss whilst she was engaged, so marriage is unlikely to tame her.
