The Dark Knight Returns gets the animated treatment in 2012

Following Batman: Year One and All-Star Superman, DC brings another comic book classic to life.

DC is lining up an animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, Frank Miller’s 1986 Batman classic, for release in 2012. According to Bleeding Cool, the announcement was made by Bruce Timm at Comic Con’s Warner Animation panel, and joining it in 2012 will be Superman vs. The Elite, adapting Joe Kelly’s fantastic What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice And The American Way? for film. The Dark Knight Returns will be released in two parts. The voice cast hasn’t been announced yet.
