Don’t forget about Free Comic Book Day this Saturday!

Stores across the world are giving away comics to all comers

Primarily a North American thing in support of independent retailers, a good few stores in the UK will be getting in on the act, bringing the carnival atmosphere to otherwise feverishly insular comic shops for Free Comic Book Day. Swing on by this Saturday to marvel at kids getting their first taste of Marvel, occasional buyers being transformed into full-blooded fiends and, of course, fill your boots with free one-off comic-books that give the event its name.

Some of the titles on offer include a Dan Slott-scripted Amazing Spider-Man, Robert Kirkman’s gleeful new kids’ series Super Dinosaur, Joe Hill’s cult Lock & Key, Green Lantern: Flashpoint which reprints the origin story from Geoff Johns Secret Origins just in time for the movie (or indeed the Complete Guide to Green Lantern in the current issue of SciFiNow), the absolute romp of Atomic Robo & Friends, Mike ‘Hellboy’ Mignola and Steve ’30 Days Of Night’ Niles Baltimore and Criminal Macabre back-to-back, and more.

Find your participating store here, and if you live in the sticks, don’t despair – Forbidden Planet have opened the offer to online customers.
