The original, and still by far the best. Planet Of The Apes was a seminal film in science fiction, one that has continued to influence and touch upon pop culture, and the genre as a whole since its release. Possibly Charlton Heston at his finest.
Directed by Franklin J Schaffner, the film starred Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter among others. The story follows an astronaut who craslands on a planet, only to find humans a subservient and enslaved race to super-intelligent apes.
