First look: Zombieland

by Aaron Asadi

ZOMBIELANDThere’s no question that zom-coms have been done to death recently but that’s not to say they shouldn’t continue making good ones, and on early evidence Zombieland certainly seems to be one of those.

Following the adventures of an undead-killer (Woody Harrelson) as he tries to single-handedly save the world from the growing threat of human-munchers, Zombieland looks to be a riotous, tongue-in-cheek action flick that boasts invention and comedy at every turn. Either that or all of the good bits are in the trailer.

Zombieland will be released nationwide on 30 October from Sony Pictures.

I’m looking forward for this, although it seems that Zombieland won’t have much gore, unlike any Romero effort. Then again it’s a comedy, and aimed at people who don’t necessarily need to see brain Pollacks. Also, it has Woody Harrelson, killing zombies, how cool is that!?

Anyone who has seen the new movie,Zombieland, will tell you it is a blast and leaves you with a desire for more that most “straight” zombie movies lacks. Woody is great at giving the movie it’s bronze but Jesse gives the movie it’s heart and the girls give the movie it’s brains. I have never been so utterly thrilled at a movie since Shaun of the Dead. I think there will be room for at least two sequels even with a “formula” movie if they continue with the cameos and add more of the rules and the clever character development that was interesting and lacking with the Little Rock and Witchita characters. I actually would like to learn more about all of them and think that if the actors stick with the sequels and the writers stay true to the formula and stay fresh I would be in line as soon as the next addition premeires as I was with this first one. The opportunity that Shaun of the Dead passed up to develop a series could be taken advantage of by this group if they play their cards right.
