David Tennant talks Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Will the Tenth Doctor return for Doctor Who’s anniversary special in 2013?

David Tennant did a video interview with G4, and the conversation inevitably led to Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary in 2013.

While he wasn’t forthcoming with details, Tennant did admit to having his costume on standby. “Who knows what will happen next year?” he said. “I’m sure there are lots of plans being discussed in quiet rooms by men with long beards and great power.”

He added that he wasn’t “confirming or denying anything,” but that the pinstripe suit is “in a very secure location… I have one of everything that I wore. I hope moths haven’t got it!”

The Olympic opening ceremony was also mentioned, seeing as Tennant carried the torch in the 2006 episode ‘Fear Her’. “What happened? What went wrong?” he said. “I was waiting for the phone call. There was an online petition apparently, which the London Organising Committee chose to ignore.

“Worse than that, in the opening ceremony there was this Doctor Who sequence that got cleared. We all had to sign off on it and they cut it!”
