Noted director slated to direct Alien prequel.

Ridley Scott, the director of 1982′s seminal science fiction film Blade Runner, has announced that a new web series is in development that is set in the same fictional universe.

Tony Scott has confirmed that 20th Century Fox is going to be producing a prequel to his brother Ridley’s classic Alien. Originally SciFiNow reported that Carl Rinsch would be helming a direct remake of Scott’s sci-fi horror, but this has since been dispelled following an interview with Collider in which Tony Scott said the following:

The perennial 1979 genre classic Alien could be heading to the big screen once more, as rumours are circulating that a remake is in the works.

Ridley Scott is claiming that he will be returning to science fiction shortly, directing an adaptation of an as yet-unnamed novel
