A sequel to Brad Pitt’s World War Z is now in active development at Paramount thanks to a huge opening weekend.
Despite rumblings that the troubled production and a delayed release date would lead to a disaster, not to mention some mixed reviews (including our own) and audience reaction, the $111.8 million worldwide opening weekend haul means that Paramount are gearing up for World War Z 2 according to THR.
Pitt and the filmmakers had previously said that they had envisioned the Max Brooks adaptation as a trilogy, and the respectable box-office haul now makes this a distinct possibility. There’s no word yet as to whether Pitt or director Marc Forster will return, although Pitt is probably a safe bet.
You can buy World War Z in paperback for £3.85 at Amazon.co.uk.
