Will the Hulk smash up Asgard in Thor 3?

Rumours peg Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk showing up in Thor: Ragnarok

With the Hulk’s role having been cut from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, it leaves us unsure over when exactly we’ll see Mark Ruffalo portraying the green goliath next. Apparently, however, we have an answer, with Joblo.com reporting that Bruce Banner will show up in Thor: Ragnarok.

Interestingly, their sources reveal that a lot of the action will take place on a “distant planet” that isn’t Earth. Could this mean we’ll see at least part of the Planet Hulk storyline from the comics play out? It would certainly work as a way to include these elements of the story, especially since a Hulk solo movie doesn’t appear to be happening any time soon.

Of course, with nothing confirmed at Marvel’s end, this could all be denied at some point. Still, Ragnarok, if it follows the events of the storyline it’s based on, will involve some seriously cataclysmic events. Asgard will need all the help it can get, and help doesn’t come in a much more formidable form than the Hulk.

Currently confirmed for the film are the returning Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander, with Taika Waititi directing and Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost penning the script.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released in cinemas on 27 October. Check out the comics that inspired the series in the 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now.
