Walking Dead Season 6 casts key character

Another popular face from the comic books will star in The Walking Dead

Those looking for the addition of more recognisable names from the comic-books will be delighted to hear that one has been added to the cast of Season 6 of The Walking Dead. No, it’s not Negan, but it’s something that could well lead to his introduction further down the line: Tom Payne (Luck, Waterloo Road, Wuthering Heights) will play Paul ‘Jesus’ Monroe, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.

For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with the comics, Jesus – so-named for his messiah-like hair – is a formidable individual who Rick encounters at the Hilltop Valley, and later joins him in Alexandria, becoming a staunch ally of Rick’s. Known for his strong rhetoric and breathtaking survival skills, we can see him becoming a memorable character.

But that’s not all. Payne is slated for Season 6, with an option for Season 7. With his character a strong opponent of Negan in the comics, his introduction potentially paves the way for a character that fans have been calling out for for a while.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead will air from 12 October on FOX in the UK. For more news about the biggest TV shows, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
