After yesterday’s news that The Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev (who plays Elena Gilbert) will be leaving the show after the Season 6 finale, another cast member has revealed that they are following her out.
Michael Trevino, who plays werewolf Tyler Lockwood, is due to make his exit before Season 7. Like Dobrev, Trevino has been on the show since Season 1, but as a recurring character. He was promoted to series regular from Season 2 onwards.
In a press statement, executive producer Julie Plec said: “Michael has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one.
“Even though he’s also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show.”
At this rate, the Season 6 finale will be a horrible, horrible bloodbath.
