Underworld 5 finally has an official title

Find out what name the fifth Underworld movie will be going by

It’s been five years since the release of Underworld: Awakening, but now it looks like the production wheels are finally starting to move that bit faster on the fifth outing in the Underworld series, with it being confirmed via the Underworld series Facebook page that it would be going by the name Underworld: Blood Wars.

It’s a fairly generic name, and doesn’t give much clue as to where the series is heading, other than the fact that the war between the vampires and lycans looks like it will be continuing in earnest (not-so-big spoiler alert there). Regardless, it’s nice to see a genre-based series that can go the distance. We’ll miss it when it’s gone.

Kate Beckinsale is reprising her role as Selene once again, and is being joined by the returning Charles Dance as Thomas and Theo James as David. Also on board are newcomers like Tobias Menzies (Outlander) as lycan leader Marius; Lara Pulver (Sherlock) as an unnamed vampire; Bradley James (Merlin); Daisy Head (The Syndicate); James Faulkner (Game Of Thrones); Peter Andersson (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.

Behind the scenes, Anna Foerster (who has previously helmed a number of episodes of Outlander) is on board as director, working from a script by Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter, Priest), with original director Len Wiseman still involved as director.

Underworld: Blood Lines will be released in cinemas later on in 2016. For more news about the biggest movies, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
