Despite pretty shocking reviews for 2014 blockbuster Transformers: Age Of Extinction, Transformers 5 is already in the works. But Paramount could soon be looking for a new director to take the wheel.

Michael Bay told USA Today that he won’t be coming back to direct the fifth film of the franchise.

“They are so fucking hard to make,” said Bay. “It’s every day for two years, seven days a week. And after you see this movie, you think, ‘Well, what the hell am I going to do next?’

“There’s kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make. I have a lot of stories to tell. And it’s about flexing new muscles.”

To be fair, Bay initially decided he wasn’t going to direct Transformers 4 either. Disregard everything you’ve just read. Bay made lunch plans at Chiquito, but he ended up with a cheese and ham baguette. The future is a saucy temptress.
