Transformers 5 adds Inbetweeners star

The fifth Transformers movie’s latest star is making the trip from TV

While we begrudgingly accept that a fifth Transformers movie is a thing, the casting agents behind The Last Knight have been quietly beavering away, adding new cast members left, right and centre. As if to hammer home the point, yet another cast member has been recruited to join the Autobots in their seemingly never-ending battle with the Decepticons: Laura Haddock.

The news was confirmed by the actress herself via her Twitter account – and she seemed pretty happy, as you can see below:

Good to see there’s still some joy in this world.

Having first shot to fame in 2011 for her role in The Inbetweeners Movie, she has since taken on a number of geek-friendly roles in the likes of Storage 24 and Guardians Of The Galaxy (which she stars in briefly as Star Lord’s mother, Meredith), as well as landing a starring role in Da Vinci’s Demons. Since then she has returned to TV via prominent turns in Luther and The Musketeers, so starring in Michael Bay’s behemoth of a franchise will no doubt be an interesting change of scenery.

She joins a cast that includes returning franchise stalwarts Mark Wahlberg, Peter Cullen and Josh Duhamel, as well as new additions Anthony Hopkins, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael and Allen Phoenix. Michael Bay will once again take to the director’s chair (apparently for the last time), where he will be working from a script penned by Matt Holloway, Art Marcum and Ken Nolan.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be released in cinemas on 23 June 2017. For more news about the latest movies, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
