The Hills Have Eyes was considered, but I think the gung ho ending bludgeoned all the good work Aja did in the first two acts. For that reason it was not included.

Agreed. It is a very sad moment, had a re-watch of the film again the other day and was almost reduced to tears. Only almost, mind.

Agree with Stu though…I didn’t really like the remake.

I loved Aja’s “The Hills Have Eyes” though…it even had 80′s rent-a-baddie Billy Drago in it, which makes any film an enjoyable experience (I’ve seen Delta Force II). Really though – I thought it updated the original movie perfectly.

Gotta love a list, though! Always makes you think “why isn’t such and such in there…”

Not sure “I Am Legend” deserves any attention, Shaun – it was pants! Not sure it beats either “The Last Man On Earth” or “The Omega Man” – think we’re still waiting for a decent version of Matheson’s story.

Shoulda replaced that one with the “Dawn Of The Dead” remake.

Thought “Alien” had more in common with “IT! The Terror From Beyond Space”, than “The Thing From Another World”. In fact, it had everything in common – alien gets on board spaceship, uses the air ducts to move around – kills crew one by one – gets blasted out of the airlock at the end.
