According to Captain America: The First Avenger‘s Howling Commando, Dum Dum Dugan, not only will the super-sequels to 2011’s Marvel movies start filming in 2012, but Nick Fury will be getting his own spin-off following this year’s The Avengers.
“Marvel does one film at a time,” said actor Neal McDonough to iMBD, “so they’re gonna do Thor 2 and as soon as Thor 2 wraps, they will do Cap 2.
“Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything,” adds the actor. “It’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man.”
Perhaps worried about his character’s advancing years – Dugan looks pretty mature in The First Avenger‘s 1943 and the actor himself is 46 this year – McDonough is hoping for a Seventies setting.
“I just pray that they have a 1970s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s asses for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat.”
