The X-Files new series confirms another returning character

The X-Files revival series casting announcements keep coming, and now a name from the original series has been confirmed.

TVLine reports that Annabeth Gish will be reprising her role as Agent Monica Reyes for one episode. It’s also been confirmed that Robert Patrick will not be returning as Agent John Doggett.

Doggett and Reyes entered the show towards the end of its run as a way to fill the gap created by David Duchovny’s departure and as a way to try to continue the series in the absence of Mulder and Scully. He was a sceptic and she was a believer, and a lot of fans really did not warm to them.

However, if Mulder and Scully are reopening The X-Files, it would feel a little callous not to at least mention the two (and really, they weren’t as bad as all that. It was the episodes at that point, not them). It’s just a shame Patrick won’t be back.

Gish joins fellow X-Files alumni Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner), William B. Davis (Cigarette Smoking Man), Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood (The Lone Gunmen) and Sheila Larken (Scully’s mum).

The X-Files returns to Fox on 24 January 2016 in the US. No UK air date has been announced. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
