The Walking Dead spoilers: Negan has been cast and we approve

Find out who’s playing The Walking Dead’s Negan in Season 6

After a lot of rumour, speculation and your standard fan-casting, The Walking Dead has finally found its Negan. Now, this news story is very spoiler-y, so if you’re not up to date…careful now.

THR reports that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as the smiling, none-more-brutal villain from the comics. Morgan is best known to genre fans from his brilliant performance as The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, as well as starring in The Losers, Magic City, Extant, and let’s not forget his turn as John Winchester in the first season of Supernatural.

He’s excellent casting for Negan, “the violent leader of a group known as The Saviors who use force and intimidation to subjugate other communities — including Alexandria.”

The character has been long, long-awaited for TWD fans, but his appearance at this point leads to even more speculation. With the (apparent) death of Glenn, the show has arguably robbed the villain of his most notorious moment from the comics, bashing the fan-favourite’s head in with his barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat Lucille (yep, enough of a psycho to name his weapon).

Of course, there are plenty of other characters for Negan to dispatch. But who will find themselves on the chopping block?

Speculate away, but word is that Negan will appear in the Season Six finale before being made a series regular for Season 7. With the character still alive in the comics, he’s got plenty of time to make an impact…
