The Sentinel remake is underway at Blumhouse

Blumhouse and Universal set up remake of Michael Winner’s horror curio The Sentinel

sentinelBlumhouse continues its march towards horror movie domination with the news that Jason Blum’s house of horrors is producing a remake of The Sentinel.

The Tracking Board reports that Universal have given Blumhouse the task of getting its long-gestating remake of Michael Winner’s 1977 film, which starred Christina Raines as a New York fashion model who moves into a new apartment, which turns out to be a gateway to hell.

The film boasted a fantastically eclectic cast, including Chris Sarandon, Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, Beverly D’Angelo, Martin Balsam, Sylvia Miles, Burgess Meredith, Eli Wallach, John Carradine, Tom Berenger and Ava Gardner, but the strange combination of Rosemary’s Baby rip-off and cheap shocks is not fondly remembered by many.

Universal have been trying to get a remake going since 2003, and Blumhouse are currently hunting for a writer and a director.

You can buy The Sentinel on DVD for £6.58 at Amazon.co.uk.
