The Omen remake is happening…yes, another one

Damien might live again as The Omen is getting a second remake from Fox and Platinum Dunes

theomenIf you remember the 2006 remake of The Omen – or even if you don’t – you may be surprised to hear that the classic horror is going to get the remake treatment again.

Bloody Disgusting reports that in addition to Glen Mazzara’s in-development The Omen TV series Damien, 20th Century Fox and Platinum Dunes are currently working on developing another remake of Richard Donner’s 1976 film about American ambassador to England Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) and his wife Katherine (Lee Remick), who realise that their young son Damien may in fact be the Antichrist.

John Moore directed the first remake, which starred Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles in the Peck and Remick roles, while David Thewlis, Pete Postlethwaite and Michael Gambon filled in for David Warner, Patrick Troughton and Leo McKern respectively. The most worthwhile part of the doggedly competent remake was Mia Farrow’s brilliant turn as the evil Mrs Baylock, previously played by Billie Whitelaw.

You can buy The Omen Trilogy on Blu-ray for £21.68 at Amazon.co.uk.
