Shadowhunters, the TV series spinning off from The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones, has found a director.

Deadline reports that McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator: Salvation) is producing the show based on Cassandra Clare’s bestselling book series, and is set to direct the pilot episode.

The ABC Family show “follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.”

Production is set to start in May so we can expect casting news soon. The film starred Lily Collins as Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace.

It was hoped that The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones would be the start of a successful film franchise, and the producers have refused to give up on Clary’s story, and it may well find its audience on TV.

You can buy The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones on Blu-ray for £8.05 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest fantasy news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
