The Flash confirms new female speedster

This new Flash character has possibly the worst name ever

The Speed Force is strong in The Flash at the moment, what with Jay Garrick having entered the fray and Wally West soon to show up. Now, it would appear that it has another representative, with Allison Paige (Bev in Days Of Our Lives) having been cast as new supervillain Eliza Harmon, aka…. Trajectory. Yep, that’s actually her name. We’re not joking.

Anyway, we digress – there isn’t all that much to go on the character by way of her comic-book appearances (she’s basically a scientific guinea pig of Lex Luthor who gains powers as a consequence, so expect this origin to be substantially changed for The Flash), although the official synopsis for episode 16, in which she’s scheduled to make her first bow, has the following description to shed light on things:

“Having arrived in town intent on creating maximum chaos, Trajectory’s antics are misinterpreted as having been perpetrated by the Flash himself. Barry thus must (act) quickly (to) uncover the mystery of who is the girl under the mask — as well as what is driving her mad desire for speed and destruction.”

Putting aside the dreadful name (and it really is dreadful), it’s not a bad piece of casting. Paige was good value in her Days Of Her Lives appearances, and while we’re not especially familiar with the rest of her credits, there’s every chance she can make a name for herself here.

She joins a returning cast that includes Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Jesse L Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Shantel VanSanten and Teddy Sears, as well as Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West.

The Flash: Season 2 will return to Sky 1 later in the year. You can find out more about the characters and the comics that inspired them by picking up the latest edition of 100 All-Time Greatest Comics.
