Josh Trank’s The Fantastic Four has cast Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder, otherwise known as the Mole Man.
THR reports that the veteran character actor (O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Incredible Hulk, Lincoln) has signed on to join Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell in the film, with his character described as “an eccentric and socially awkward scientist.”
Fans of the comics will no doubt know that Elder is in fact the Mole Man, “shunned by humanity and leader of a subterranean group of monsters known as the Moloids.”
THR’s sources are confident that we won’t be seeing Nelson as the Mole Man in the first movie, but that the stage will be set for Harvey Elder to take on full villainy duties in later films.
