Supergirl Season 2 is bringing in the Man of Steel

Supergirl’s cousin is coming to the show in Season 2

Good news, Supergirl fans: the show is about to step it up a notch for Season 2. According to Variety, Supergirl is currently looking to cast an actor to play Kara Zor-El’s cousin, AKA Superman.

In a statement, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said: “Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

The news comes shortly after the other news that Supergirl will be changing networks, moving from CBS to The CW. The budget has gone down and production has moved Vancouver, but it’s now with its sister shows The Flash and Arrow. Which of course means MORE CROSSOVERS!

There’s no telling who is going to be taking on the role of the Man of Steel, but fans of the show seem to be wanting Smallville‘s Superman Tom Welling back on The CW. It would be a fitting casting choice, what with Supergirl‘s tendency to bring Kryptonian alumni like Helen Slater and Dean Cain back in smaller roles.

But there’s also the fact that Welling somehow turned almost 40-years-old when we weren’t looking. Mechad Brooks, who plays Superman’s photographer friend Jimmy Olsen on the show, is 35 though, so it’s not impossible. And Welling doesn’t really look 40. So, yeah. Get Tom Welling, The CW.
