Supergirl Season 2 casts Lynda Carter

Find out who Wonder Woman will play in Supergirl Season 2

One of the fun traits of the Berlanti-verse shows is the semi-way way in which they recruit past members with a prior association with the DC universe. Thus far, The Flash has recruited former Flash John Wesley Shipp to play the father of Grant Gustin’s current interation, and even brought back Mark Hamill to play the Trickster one more. Supergirl has followed suit, with Helen Slater (who played Supergirl in the 1984 movie) and Dean Cain (Superman in Lois & Clark) playing Kara’s parents.

In line with this they have played out a similar move, with ComicBookResources.com reporting that they have recruited none other than Lynda Carter (the star of the 1975 Wonder Woman TV series). But who is she playing? What role could possibly be befitting of DC royalty? Answer: no less than the President of the United States.

Back in March, Berlanti had admitted his intention to do as much: “We had the perfect role for Lynda Carter, and we couldn’t work out her schedule… We’re going to do it, we’ll just do it next year”, before co-producer Andrew Kreisberg added, “She’s the female president of the United States.” Turns out they were both right.

Although exactly how she fits in to the series hasn’t been confirmed, we do know that she will first show up in the third episode of Season 2, and appear in a number more afterwards. What we do know for sure is that she will kick ass, and is an utterly brilliant casting choice.

She joins returning cast members Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan and Calista Flockhart.

Supergirl Season 2 will air on Sky 1 later in 2016. You can download The 25 Greatest DC Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com now. For more news about the biggest movies, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
