Suicide Squad line-up picture, Tom Hardy explains why he quit

First look at the cast of Suicide Squad in costume as Tom Hardy reveals what he thinks of the script

suicide squadThe first look at the cast of Suicide Squad in costume at the Belle Reve Penitentiary has arrived via director David Ayer’s Twitter.

From left to right, we have Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Karen Fukahara as Katana, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. We’ve also got a full look at Will Smith as Deadshot in costume, complete with his eye enhancement, from Ayer’s Twitter.

While that’s Joel Kinnaman up there as Rick Flagg, Tom Hardy was originally cast in the role and has clarified that he did indeed drop out due to scheduling conflicts with Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant while speaking at a Mad Max: Fury Road junket.

He did take a moment to enthuse about the script (via Collider).

“Warner Bros. is my home studio and I love them so I was really bummed out. I wanted to work on that and I know the script is really fucking alley and I also know what’s gonna happen with The Joker and Harley Quinn in that; I won’t give away too much…it’s fucking alley. And that whole territory is something that I would certainly—I mean, everybody loves The Joker. Everybody loves The Joker. Will Smith is a dope guy, but everybody loves The Joker and that’s gonna, I think, be a very important film for fans.”

Suicide Squad is set for release in cinemas 5 August 2016. For more on the comics that have inspired the movie, pick up our 100 All-Time Greatest Comics bookazine now!
