Stargate gets serious

Post-Galactica, it was always going to be hard for Stargate to survive as it was. An entertaining sci-fi show but ultimately one that was arguably lacking in ambition and a little too soft around the edges, it was no surprise that Stargate Atlantis came to an end, and many had assumed that it would mark the end of the franchise’s TV legacy for quite a while. The announcement of SG•U, however, proved that this wasn’t to be the case, but also, more importantly, the new show immediately made clear its intention to demonstrate that the franchise can not only survive in the BSGeneration but thrive.
