Star Wars Rogue One casting rumour gets our hopes up

One of our favourite character actors could join Felicity Jones in Star Wars: Rogue One

Ben MendelsohnAs far as casting rumours go, they don’t get much less detailed than this latest for Star Wars: Rogue One, but it’s got our attention nevertheless.

Deadline is reporting that the brilliant Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom, Killing Them Softly, The Place Beyond The Pines) is “circling a lead role” in the spin-off directed by Gareth Edwards.

If he signs on, he’d join the excellent Felicity Jones. Mendelsohn was recently seen in Starred Up and on the Netflix show Bloodline, or you might recognise him as Jessa’s dad in Girls, or from his turn as the slimy board member who thinks he can control Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. Anyway, if he does sign on, that would be pretty exciting.

Disney had no comment, apparently.
