Star Wars: Episode VII casts Saoirse Ronan?

According to Latino-Review (yes, them) but verified by the far more reliable Bleeding Cool, The Host, How I Live Now and Byzantium star Saoirse Ronan has read for a lead female role in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Ronan – who was also the subject of a lot of Avengers: Age Of Ultron rumours – could be playing either Han Solo’s daughter – in the Expanded Universe books this is the Force-sensitive Jaina Solo, but there’s no reason that director JJ Abrams will be necessarily honouring that – or the female villain.

Latino-Review, meanwhile, also adds in their typically subdued manner, “DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE ABOUT BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH NOT BEING IN STAR WARS. HE IS IN THE MOVIE!” because capslock is definitely a substitute for verifiable sources.

Star Wars: Episode VII is due in cinemas Summer 2015. You can buy Star Wars: The Complete Saga for £57.99 on Blu-ray from Amazon.co.uk.
