Star Wars Episode 7 Spinoff Spoilers: Cast being lined up

Find out which actresses could be starring in Gareth Edwards’ spinoff

Star Wars: The Force Awakens may be reaching cinemas in December 2015, but it looks like there’s being no let up in the awakening of the Force, with a number of actresses rumoured to be testing for Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars Episode 7 spinoff, accorfing to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tatiana Maslany Star Wars

First up is Tatiana Maslany, who is of course best known for starring in the BBC’s acclaimed drama Orphan Black, starring in a multitude of roles – literally. This is a left-field choice, and her big-screen experience is minimal compared with the other rumoured contenders, but it’s nice to see her get some recognition for her excellent performance(s).

Felicity Jones Star WarsNext is Felicity Jones, another whose star is very much on the ascendancy, having recently garned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for her role in Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory Of Everything. She doesn’t have a lot of big-screen genre experience (with currently only Julie Taymor’s 2010 Shakespeare adaptation The Tempest and 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to her name), but with a number of impressive-sounding projects (including Da Vinci Code sequel Inferno) on the way, she’s definitely a strong option.

Rooney Mara Star WarsLastly, we have Rooney Mara, who shot to fame after standout turns in David Fincher’s The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. She has followed this up with appearances in high-brown genre fare like Steven Soderberg’s Side Effects and Spike Jonze’s Her, and with a number of eye-catching roles on the horizon (such as a young Princess Tiger Lily in Joe Wright’s Pan), she is another one to look out for.

The untitled Star Wars spinoff will be released in cinemas on 16 December 2016. To read about the latest on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
