According to The Raid: Redemption producer Todd Brown at Twitch, JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens has added three members of The Raid 2‘s cast to the line-up.
The use of martial artists is a nice call-back to Ray Park’s role as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, so perhaps we’re looking at some Force-wielders who are able to display the athleticism we now expect from Jedi and Sith post-Prequel Trilogy, but without relying on CGI.
The Raid 1/2 cast members added to Star Wars: The Force Awakens are:
Iko Uwais, who played Rama
Yayan Ruhian, who played Mad Dog/Prakoso
Cecep Arif Rahman, who played The Assassin
Though this is unconfirmed, but that there’s a named source gives this infinitely more credibility than the usual Star Wars: Episode VII rumours.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on 18 December 2015. For the latest Star Wars: Episode VII news, subscribe to SciFiNow and save 30% off the cover price.
