Star Trek world record reached

by James Rundle

Star Trek Online organises largest gathering of costumed fans in London.

Star Trek fans in London set the world record for the largest gathering of costumed enthusiasts of the show on Valentine’s Day.

At an event organised by Namco Bandai, in support of the Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Star Trek Online, 99 costumed Trekkers gathered on the capital’s Millennium Bridge for the achievement, verified by officials from Guinness Book of World Records.

“The turnout today was nothing short of fantastic,” said Lee Kirton, head of Public Relations at Namco Bandai. “Namco Bandai and Atari are absolutely delighted to have been involved in this record breaking activity and it’s a testament to the Star Trek fans’ amazing dedication that so many turned out on Valentine’s Day.”

This seemed like a fantastic event and I wish I had attended! Alas I stay near Edinburgh and we never have anything like this up here! If anyone wants to help organise one let me know and we can get one going in Scotland’s capital!

I love seeing things like this. I know a lot of people look down on it, but it looks like good fun. Very social and reminds me of my days at Pages bar.
