Scream Season 2 is confirmed for more self-aware scares

MTV renews the Scream TV series for another season, prepare for meta second season jokes

ScreamThe MTV series Scream has been given a second season by the network for another go-round of self-aware slasher scares based on Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson’s series of films.

Deadline reports that the horror show has been a strong performer for MTV, whose VP of Series Development and Head of Scripted Programming Mina Lefevre said “It has been a wonderful experience working with Bob Weinstein and his team who are such connoisseurs of this genre and we are thrilled by how our viewers have responded to the reinvention of Scream.”

Bob Weinstein himself added “We promise even more scares, surprises, romance and of course kills in season two.”

Scream is five episodes into its first season in the US. With no UK broadcaster confirmed for the show, we can’t really offer any insights into quality but there’s been some pretty strong reviews for it. Have any of you caught Scream? Are you excited for a second season? Does the survive without Sidney Prescott and Red Right Hand?
