English comedian and actor Hugh Laurie, best known in the US as the titular Doctor in House, has signed on to play the villain in the forthcoming Robocop remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Laurie will play the super-rich CEO of Omnicorp, the defence contractor who creates Robocop from the remains of KIA police officer Alex Murphy.
Called OCP – Omni Consumer Products – in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original, Laurie’s predecessor would be OCP Vice President Richard “Dick” Jones, played sublimely by Ronny Cox.
