Resident Evil 6 nabs Orange Is The New Black star

Plus new synopsis and casting news for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

All good things must come to end, and sadly it seems to be the case with the Resident Evil film series, which will apparently bow out after sixth movie Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. However, it is definitely doing so with a resounding bang, with a whole new synopsis and cast list being released, the pick of which is Orange Is The New Black and Dark Matter‘s Ruby Rose.

She joins a cast that includes returning names Milla Jovovich (Alice), Shawn Roberts (Albert Wesker), Ali Larter (Claire Redfield) and Iain Glen (Dr Isaacs), as well as the likes of Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James and Japanese model Rola.

While Resident Evil: Retribution finished with the survivors decamped in a fortified White House as part of humanity’s final stand against Umbrella’s hordes, it appears that The Final Chapter won’t take place there, at least according to the synopsis:

Resident Evil 6 Ruby Rose
Ruby Rose has been cast in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

”Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse… In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”

So at the very least, it sounds like the finale will be nothing if not epic. We like the ‘old faces’ part as well – hopefully we’ll see the likes of Chris and Jill again?

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be released in cinemas on  24 February 2017. For more news about the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
