While doing the press rounds for his comedy, Year One, director Harold Ramis was happy to field questions about a third Ghostbusters movie. First up, was the subject of a script?
“If we get a good script we’ll do it. I don’t think any of us feel we need to for our own careers or anything, but if people want to see it we’ll try to give it to them. But only if it’s good.”
He was then asked if you could foresee the movie going ahead:
“There’s a real script being written. We wrote a story – Ivan Reitman, Dan Aykroyd and I are consulting. (Bill) Murray said he’d do it. Ernie Hudson is in. Almost everyone said they’d be in. Rick Moranis has laid low in show business for the last few years.” Ramis ended by stating his intent for this third installment in the popular franchise. “It’s all about the quality. We don’t want to destroy a franchise that everyone loves with a bad sequel.”
Ghostbusters 3 is currently in the early production stages and has no definite filming date set.

Very sympathetic remark. Let’s hope if the movie gets made it lives up to this comment.
After seeing the new Ghostbusters game in action I was surprised that Ramis and co didn’t use the game’s plot for a new film. It’s throwback and nostalgia-baiting, sure, but regardless of this I found myself laughing and smirking along with all he pixelated banter. It really was prime material for a third Ghostbusters movie.
Think they’ve missed a trick there.

Does no one remember Ghostbusters 2?
