Fresh from playing Peter Weyland in Ridley Scott’s eagerly anticipated Prometheus, Guy Pearce has signed up for Iron Man 3, which is due to be directed by Lethal Weapon‘s Shane Black and see cinemas 3 May 2013.
Based on Warren Ellis’ Iron Man: Extremis miniseries, Pearce will play Dr Aldrich Killian, a geneticist involved in one of the Marvel continuity’s many attempts to replicate the Super Soldier serum (this time via nanotechnology), and therefore a perfect storyline for the post-Avengers Assemble shared Marvel movie universe.
As this storyline has obvious links to not only Chris Evans’ original Super Soldier, Captain America, but Mark Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk – who in the Marvel movie-verse is yet another victim of attempts to recreate the Super Soldier project, this time through Gamma radiation – will this be an excuse for either, or both, to cameo?
