The film of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride And Prejudice And Zombies has added a Time Lord to its cast, as Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith has signed on.

THR reports that the erstwhile Doctor will continue his assault on Hollywood by joining the long-long-long-in-development genre mash-up, with a cast that includes Lily James (Downton Abbey), Sam Riley (Maleficent), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows) and Douglas Booth (Noah).

Smith will play “Mr Collins, a parson who is on the lookout for a wife and proposes to Bennett (James).”

“The heroine, Liz Bennett (James), is pressured by her family to marry into a wealthy upper-class home but chafes at the stiff social mores of Victorian England. Instead, she feels that she should help defend the countryside against the onslaught of a horrifying zombie plague.”

The film comes from Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down) after slipping through the hands of several other filmmakers.

Smith’s post Doctor Who work includes Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River and a role in the ludicrously named Terminator: Genisys, which will apparently grow in importance in the sequels.
