Preacher Season 2 has been confirmed. Praise the Lord!

Dominic Cooper will return as Jesse for Preacher Season 2

Some much-needed good news: AMC’s Preacher, which recently started airing in the UK on Amazon, has been renewed for a second season.

Put together by Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and adapted from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s massively acclaimed comic-book series, it can definitely be counted as a success so far, having gained a mainly positive critical reception, galvanised by its willingness to take risks, it’s fidelity to the source material and some seriously impressive performances (as we expected, Joseph Gilgun utterly steals the show as vampire Casdidy. Seriously, he should be cast in everything).

Unlike the first series, Season 2 will take place over a slightly extended length of 13 episodes – which can only be a great thing, as t gives us more time to spend with the core trio of Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy, and even more time to delve into the 75 issues worth of source material.

Speaking in a statement, AMC president Charlie Collier said, “Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season. What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”

Season 1 of Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip O’Hare and Gilgun as Cassidy, with other cast members including Lucy Griffiths, W Earl Brown, Derek Wilson, Ian Colletti, Tom Brooke, Anatol Yusef, Graham McTavish and Jackie Earle Haley.
