Penny Dreadful Season 3 first look at Eva Green and Patti LuPone

Eva Green’s having a terrible time in first look at Penny Dreadful Season 3

Penny Dreadful‘s second season ended on a pretty major step for its characters, and while we wait for all those issues to be resolved, here’s our very first look at Season 3!

Here’s “Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) as she turns to her alienist Dr. Seward (Patti LuPone) for help in battling the evil forces she cannot seem to escape. ‘Dreadfuls’ will have to wait until the hotly anticipated third series premieres in 2016 to find out what led them here.”

We were huge fans of the second season of John Logan’s Victorian era monster mash (here’s our review) and we can’t wait to see what the group of monsters and misfits come up against next year. There’s some details about what we can expect from the new faces.

“Wes Studi (Hell On Wheels, A Million Ways to Die in the West) is a new series regular starring as Kaetenay, an intense, enigmatic Native American with a deep connection to Ethan (Josh Hartnett) who also becomes an ally to Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton).”

New cast members also include “Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Spooks) as Dr. Henry Jekyll; Screen Actors Guild® Award nominee Christian Camargo (DEXTER®The Hurt Locker) as zoologist Dr. Alexander Sweet; Sam Barnett (2012, Jupiter Ascending) as Dr. Seward’s mysterious young secretary; Jessica Barden (The Outcast, Far from the Madding Crowd) as Justine, a young acolyte to Lily (Billie Piper) and Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney); and Perdita Weeks (THE TUDORS), as Catriona Hartdegan, a scholar with expert knowledge of the supernatural.”

Brian Cox will also appear as Ethan’s father Talbot, and LuPone is a series regular after her brilliant guest appearance as The Cut-Wife in Season Two. Her Dr Seward is described as “an American therapist who treats Vanessa with an unconventional new approach.” Sounds promising.

Harry Treadaway will be back as Dr Frankenstein, as will the superb Rory Kinnear as the Creature (sorry, we mean John Clare).

Penny Dreadful will return to Sky Atlantic in 2016. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
