Park Chan-Wook will direct sci-fi Genocidal Organ

The Stoker and Oldboy director’s next project sounds awesome

We’re huge fans of Park Chan-Wook, I mean, really, how can you not be? So we’re very excited to hear that the director of Oldboy, Lady Vengeance and Stoker has got his next project lined up.

The Tracking Board reports that Park will direct an adaptation of Project Itoh’s Japanese sci-fi novel Genocidal Organ, which is an incredible title.

“Set in a time when Sarajevo was obliterated by a homemade nuclear device, the story reflects a world inundated with genocide. An American man by the name of John Paul seems to be responsible for all of this and intelligence agent Clavis Shepherd treks across the wasteland of the world to find him and the eponymous ‘genocidal organ.'”

An anime version of the novel was reportedly in development for a 2015 release but was shelved when studio Manglobe went bankrupt.

Park is currently working on The Handmaiden, an adaptation of Sarah Waters’ Fingersmith, which we also can’t wait to see.
