George A Romero’s son wants your help to make Night Of The Living Dead prequel

“They’re coming to get you, Barbara…”

In what we can certainly describe as unexpected news, there’s a Night Of The Living Dead prequel in development, and it’s coming from George A Romero’s son: G Cameron Romero.

Variety reports that the Romero clan is coming together to create a new story for the Dead series, as George is also producing. The IndieGogo campaign is looking to raise $150,000, which will go towards pre-production on the movie called Origins.

Origins will be set in the late sixties 1960s and focus on a brilliant scientist who strikes a deal with the military that will give him all the resources he needs to finalize his work in exchange for what he later learns is a price all mankind will have to pay.”

The younger Romero stated that “I feel carrying on my dad’s legacy is something that I not only want to do, but it’s something I HAVE to do because I, like all my dad’s fans, was raised on his creation. I want to take back the zombie genre in the name of the legacy that my father created almost 50 years ago. I want to tell the origin story of the modern zombie, in a way that my father wasn’t able to do so back in 1968.”

You can buy Night Of The Living Dead on Blu-ray for £4.79 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest horror news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
