More Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the way

by Shaun Davis

Twisted Pictures to blow the dust off this horror franchise.

PHxDLyyCCfipByTwisted Pictures, home of the Saw franchise, has recently acquired the rights to another horror franchise – The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Speaking to ShockTillYouDrop, producer Mark Burg was on hand to discuss this acquisition:

“Platinum Dunes had a one-off deal, then I guess they got into a disagreement with the rights holders,” Burg says. “Carl Mazzacone, who works for us, set up a meeting for myself and [original Chainsaw co-writer] Kim Henkel, we flew down and closed the deal in the room.”

Next up Burg dropped a minor bombshell by declaring that, unlike the original, its sequels and subsequent remakes, this Chainsaw Massacre picture would be set in the present day.

“What we’re going to do with it is bring it to 2010,” Burg exclaims. “Make it current day and come up with a new story that takes some of the basic plot points, if you will, and make it a current day movie. I don’t want to make another Chainsaw in the Seventies, that doesn’t thrill me.”
