Fox’s Minority Report TV series has been confirmed for a pilot. The show has been described as a sequel and comes with a female lead.

THR reports that the new show based on Steven Spielberg’s 2002 sci-fi hit based on the novel by Philip K. Dick, which starred Tom Cruise, Samantha Morton and Colin Farrell, has been ordered to pilot with a “a significant penalty attached” and picks up 10 years after the original film.

“10 years after the end of Precrime in DC, when one of the three Precogs struggles to lead a ‘normal’ human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.”

The script is coming from Godzilla‘s Max Borenstein, who is also working on Skull Island.

The idea of trying to rehabilitate the Precogs sounds like an interesting approach to the story, especially as Samantha Morton’s performance as Precog Agatha was one of the best things about Spielberg’s movie. We’ll be very interested to see who’s cast.
