We all knew it would happen; it was just a matter of time. Ian McKellen, though, couldn’t wait and has confirmed that he will indeed be returning to pay Gandalf in Guillermo del Torro’s Hobbit.

“Well I haven’t had the contract yet,” the acing legend said at a screening of The Dark Knight, “but it is everyone’s intention that I play Gandalf.”
