Maniac Cop remake first poster is nice and neon

Moody and stylish first art for Nicolas Winding Refn-produced Maniac Cop remake

As remakes go, the Maniac Cop re-do is certainly an enticing proposition.

Produced by Nicolas Winding Refn, written by Ed Brubaker and directed by John Hyams (the weirdly good latter Universal Soldier sequels), the movie is currently shopping around for sales, hence this lovely poster (from Bloody Disgusting).

The remake of the 1988 slasher, directed by William Lustig and starring Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins, is looking to shoot in spring. The original film told the story of a scarred Maniac Cop who terrorised New York, and that’s where this remake will film too. There’s no word on casting yet, or if it will use the original’s classic tagline: “You have the right to remain silent…forever!”
