The casting choices for the Lego Batman movie thus far – Will Arnett, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes and Michael Cera among them – have been great, although there’s been nothing really out of the ordinary. Now, all this has changed, with The Hollywood Reporter confirming that none other than Mariah Carey has joined the film’s cast.
Despite initial rumours that she’d be playing Commissioner Gordon, instead it looks like she’s taking on the role of Gotham’s mayor – who doesn’t have a name as of now, although we’re sure this will change.
As we mentioned earlier, it’s nice to have something a bit out of the ordinary, and we’re sure she’ll deliver. She’s certainly got a distinctive voice, and has proved that she can act in the likes of Lee Daniels’ Precious, so we’re sure she’ll be a great choice.
In addition to the aforementioned cast, she joins director Chris McKay (The Lego Movie, Robot Chicken) and writer Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) aboard.
The Lego Batman Movie will be released in cinemas on 10 February 2017. For more news on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
