Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2 casts its Citizen Steel

Another DC favourite has joined Legends Of Tomorrow

Following the end of Legends Of Tomorrow in which [SPOILERS] Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold met his demise, and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) seemingly departed, there has been a vacant spot on the team. Sure, one incarnation of Vixen would appear to have filled the void, but apparently there is room for one more, as Deadline is reporting that Nick Zano (The Final Destination, 90210) has joined the cast of DC’s time-travelling superheroes.

According to the report he will play Dr Nate Heywood, whose grandfather was Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America (who the team encounter in the finale). In the comics there have been a number of incarnations of the character, first and foremost being Nate (who himself is a founding member of the Justice Society) as Citizen Steel, and Henry Heywood, who was known as Commander Steel. There is also a Superman clone called ‘Steel’, but we won’t go too much into that.

There has been no word yet on which incarnation he’ll be following, but it’s nice to see the show delve even further into DC comic-book mythos for inspiration. There’s a rich back catalogue of stories there, so they have plenty to choose from. Co-creator Marc Guggenheim previously said in an interview, “the composition of the team is going to change; there will be some new faces on the Waverider,” so we can potentially expect more changes afoot.

Zano joins confirmed returning cast members Arthur Darvill, Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, Franz Drameh and Dominic Purcell, with more names expected to be announced at a later date.

Legends Of Tomorrow: Season 2 will air on Sky 1 in 2017. You can download The 25 Greatest DC Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com. For more news about the latest TV series, pick up the new issue of SciFiNow.
